The Societe de transport de Montreal (STM) on Aug. 10 will begin work to make the Edouard-Montpetit Station universally accessible.
The two-year, CA$39 million project includes two new elevators and an expanded building entrance to make room for a staircase and two fare collection turnstiles, STM officials said in a press release.
In Vancouver, TransLink earlier this month completed a $14.52 million escalator upgrade project and opened new entrances at Granville Station.
As part of the project, six new escalators were reopened and new wayfinding signage and train arrival display monitors were installed.
Granville Station is the first of 13 stations to receive new escalators as part of TransLink’s systemwide escalator replacement project, TransLink officials said in a press release.
Meanwhile, Calgary Transit today will refurbish elevators at Rundle and Marlborough stations, two of its busiest and oldest CTrain stations.
The elevators’ core components have not be updated since they were installed, Calgary Transit officials said in a press release.
