Austin, Texas’ Capital Metro recently contracted Interfleet Technology Inc. to provide vehicle engineering support services during the agency’s passenger-car procurement process.

Interfleet will work with program management support consultant Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam to evaluate and negotiate contracts, and review design for Capital Metro’s initial order for six diesel multiple units (DMU).

Interfleet previously preformed a technical analysis of DMU technology for the agency, and worked with Capital Metro’s project team to develop interior and exterior vehicle design concepts, and performance-based technical specifications.

Capital Metro is building a 32-mile commuter-rail line between Leander and downtown Austin that will feature nine stations, including a terminal adjacent to the new Austin Convention Center.
