Austin’s Capital Metro recently proposed a $170 million operating budget and $45 million capital improvement budget for fiscal-year 2011.

The capital work is part of the agency’s five-year capital improvement plan.

The proposed budget would add $1.3 million to the agency’s cash reserves, increase rail and bus service, and boost revenue, but the spending plan also calls for a fare hike.

Capital Metro’s board expects to vote on the proposed budget at its Sept. 24 meeting.
