The Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA) and Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) recently appointed David Kutrosky managing director of the CCJPA to succeed Eugene Skoropowski, who will retire on Dec. 6 after managing Capitol Corridor intercity passenger-rail service the past 10 years.

Kutrosky most recently was deputy managing director of the CCJPA, which oversees intercity passenger-rail service between San Jose, San Francisco and Sacramento, Calif. He previously served BART in various capacities, such as helming efforts to develop a regional passenger-rail service, which led to BART’s role as CCJPA’s managing agency. Prior to joining BART, Kutrosky was a consultant for traffic engineering, transit operations planning, and airport planning and design.

CCJPA’s board also voted unanimously to extend BART’s managing contract to February 2015. BART became CCJPA’s managing agency in 1999 and the most recent contract extension was set to expire in February 2010.
