Last week, Chicago Mayor-Elect Rahm Emanuel named Forrest Claypool president of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) to succeed Richard Rodriguez.
Claypool previously served two terms as Cook County commissioner and was superintendent of the Chicago Park District. His long public service career also includes stints as deputy state treasurer in Illinois, deputy commissioner of the Cook County Board of (Property Tax) Appeals and chief of staff for Chicago Mayor Richard Daley.
Emanuel also tabbed Terry Peterson to continue serving as CTA’s chairman. He has chaired the transit agency’s board since 2009. Prior to joining the CTA, Peterson was chief executive officer of the Chicago Housing Authority.
In addition, Emanuel named Gabe Klein commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation. He previously was director of the District Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C.
