The Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp. (Metra) recently spent $3.6 million to expand one of its stations and restore another.
The commuter railroad tapped Boller Construction Co. to double the size of the Buffalo Grove station; Boller’s portion of the work included installing a ticket-agent office, upgrading restrooms and expanding the vending area.
The construction firm also restored Metra’s Crystal Lake facility. Work included replacing windows and doors, constructing a new wood ceiling, and modernizing four masonry and ornamental steel shelters, according to a Boller press release.
