The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will receive $1.2 million in funding from the Northeast Ohio Area-wide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) for two projects.

Two grants of $600,000 each will help fund the Clifton Transit Enhancement project in Cleveland and Lakewood, and the University Circle Rapid Transit Station reconstruction in Cleveland.

“Combined with our TIGER II grant we received in October, the University Circle Rapid Station secured more than $12 million and we hope to break ground there next summer,” said Joe Calabrese, RTA general manager and chief executive officer, in a prepared statement.

The University Circle project calls for enhancing pedestrian walkways under railroad bridges between bus and train waiting areas.
