The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is considering raising fares as part of its 2016 budget. In particular, the agency is deciding whether to increase regular fares from $2.25 to $2.50, GCRTA officials said in a press release. "The only alternative to a fare increase would be to further reduce needed services. Some service reductions are likely in 2016," GCRTA officials said. The agency's fares have not been increased since 2009.The GCRTA's board will decide on the proposed fare changes after public hearings are held, likely in February or March 2016, GCRTA officials said.
