Clipper system to go live this week on VTA
advertisement
Clipper, a regional fare payment system in northern California, will launch on Wednesday on the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) light-rail and bus system.
The Clipper allows riders to use a smart card to purchase monthly passes and pay for rides on VTA or any transit system in the San Francisco Bay area that accepts Clipper. The card also automatically recognizes transfers.
"Launching Clipper is a new way of doing business," VTA General Manager Michael Burns said in a prepared statement. "This digital system offers further convenience for riders."
