Color by numbers: MARTA uses primary colors to code four lines
advertisement
Last week, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) launched a color-coded rail line identification system to help riders navigate the system more easily.
Mainlines and their deviating branches now are identified by four primary colors: red, yellow, green and blue. Transit systems across the nation typically identify rail lines by color rather than the "end-of-line" designations MARTA previously used.
The color-coded system’s launch coincided with the implementation of a 25-cent base fare increase — MARTA’s first fare hike in eight years — and additional $1 parking fee on Oct. 1.
