Connecticut commission to consider funds for double-tracking Amtrak line
advertisement
On Dec. 28, Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell announced the state bond commission will consider appropriating $26 million for the design and construction of double track along portions of an Amtrak line at its Jan. 8 meeting.
The project calls for upgrading sections of a 62-mile line that accommodates passenger and freight trains between New Haven, Hartford and Springfield. The double-tracked “NHHS” line would handle bidirectional service between New Haven and Springfield on weekdays at 30-minute peak intervals.
The line would feature several new stations and branches connecting to MTA Metro-North Railroad, Shore Line East and Bradley International Airport.
