Consortium to oversee London's Crossrail project
advertisement
An AECOM/CH2M HILL/Nichols Group consortium recently obtained a contract to serve as program partner for Transport for London's Crossrail project.
The consortium will help oversee the Cross London Rail Links project, which will run from Maidenhead and Heathrow Airport in the west to Essex and Kent in the east, traveling underground through the city center. The system will help reduce crowding throughout London's transport network. Crossrail will feature trains designed to accommodate more than 1,500 passengers each.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2010 and be complete in 2017.
The consortium has subcontracted Turner & Townsend to oversee cost planning, Unipart Rail to provide logistics services and First Class Partnerships to handle rail operations.
