The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) has reached the halfway point on the construction of the Portland-Milwaukie light-rail project, the agency announced yesterday.

Agency officials also announced an opening date for the sixth MAX line: Sept. 12, 2015.

Construction on the 7.3-mile line — which will run between downtown Portland and North Clackamas County — began in May 2012. Construction on a bridge over the Willamette River began in July 2011. The $1.5 billion project also includes building 10 stations.
