DART general counsel resigns, returns to private sector

Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) general counsel since 1994 resigned at year end to return to the private sector, according to a prepared statement.
During his eight-year tenure, Roland Castañeda worked with two DART executive directors to guide the agency during a period of rapid growth, including the 1996 start of DART rail service. Castañeda helmed the legal department through structural changes that led to significant operations cost reductions, DART said. The number of lawsuits filed against the agency was reduced by two-thirds each year.
Castañeda also founded and served as first chairman of Texas General Counsel Forum, a statewide professional association comprising more than 220 corporate general counsels.
