DART increases fares
advertisement
To offset rising costs, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is increasing fares for the first time since 1995.
Beginning March 3, a basic fare will increase from $1 to $1.25, affecting local single-ride and premium single-ride fares. Day passes will increase 50 cents, and monthly passes, employer passes, and paratransit coupon book prices will increase up to $10. A reduced fare for senior citizens, non-paratransit disabled customers, high school students and children will remain the same.
About 10 percent of DART’s operating budget is funded by transit fares. DART is currently funding a new light-rail service to North Dallas, Richardson, Plano and Garland.
