Dallas Area Rapid Transit recently launched a new feature on its Web site that enables customers to plan bus and rail trips from their personal computers.
Offered on www.DART.org, the new service is a slimmed-down version of the program used by DART’s customer service representatives. The new program supports representatives, who will remain available for customers who would like help developing a personal trip plan.
The trip planning tool was developed over three years and underwent extensive testing, according to a prepared statement. DART invited more than 300 daily customers to try the new program during a trial period. The program already is averaging more than 800 visits a day.
"Already a big hit with our customers, the online trip planner is pushing our Web site traffic even higher," said Morgan Lyons, spokesperson for DART.
