DART named 'Public Sector Agency of the Year' by Dallas/Fort Worth business council

Dallas Area Rapid Transit has received the "Public Sector Agency of the Year 2002" Award from the Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Business Development Council Inc.
"DART is the winner because of its community relationships and improving access to economic opportunity for minority enterprises," said Margo Posey, the council’s president, in a prepared statement. "Since its inception, DART has been committed to developing and implementing an effective and efficient disadvantaged, minority and women-owned business program."
In FY2001, DART awarded more than $40 million in contracts to disadvantaged, minority and women-owned business enterprises. By year’s end, the agency will have conducted more than 450 vendor sessions on the procedures for competing and bidding for DART purchases and contracts.
