This year, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has registered several monthly ridership gains on its light-rail system, as well as the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) commuter-rail line, which it operates in conjunction with the Fort Worth Transportation Authority. So it's no surprise that the agency posted record ridership in fiscal-year 2008, which ended Sept. 30.
DART light-rail ridership totaled 19.4 million, up 8.6 percent, and TRE ridership totaled 2.7 million, up 10.9 percent compared with FY2007's totals.
Average weekday light-rail ridership skyrocketed 14.4 percent to 71,502 and weekday commuter-rail ridership jumped 11.8 percent to 10,309.
