Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has been named the "public entity of the year" by the Regional Hispanic Contractors Association (RHCA).
At its sixth annual Pillar Awards in Dallas late last month, the association recognized DART for its ongoing capital expansion and three rail-route openings for the Orange Line to Irving and the Blue Line to Rowlett, Texas, in 2012, DART officials said in a press release.
In addition, three DART projects and the associated contractors were recognized as finalists in the RHCA's "project of the year" category: the Rowlett Blue Line expansion, Austin Bridge & Road; Northwest Plano Park and Ride, Phillips/May Corp.; and Irving Orange Line Expansion, a Kiewit, Stacy and Witback, Reyes and Parsons joint venture.
The Pillar Awards recognize individuals and entities that have been "exemplary champions of the RHCA and the construction profession," the press release states.
