Dallas Area Rapid Transit Nov. 14 named James Spiller — a 25-year U.S. Air Force veteran — deputy chief of the DART Transit Police Department.
"DART is very fortunate to obtain the services of a career professional who has so much experience in the U.S. military’s counter-terrorism operations," said Ben Gomez, DART executive vice president overseeing the Transit Police Department, in a prepared statement.
An Air Force retiree, Spiller most recently served as director of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency in Albuquerque, N.M. He graduated from the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., and holds a master’s degree in criminal justice administration from Central Missouri State University.
At DART, Spiller will report directly to the agency’s police chief.
