Last week, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) announced the five teams chosen to compete in the final step of the procurement process to design and build the rail line, stations and systems for Phase 2 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail project.

Included in the process are new stations at Reston Town Center, Herndon, Innovation Center, Washington Dulles International Airport, Route 606 and Route 772, MWAA officials said in a prepared statement.

The five teams selected to compete for the contract and their equity members are: Bechtel Transit Partners (Bechtel Infrastructure Corp.); Capital Rail Constructors (Clark Construction Group L.L.C. and Kiewit Infrastructure South Co.); Dulles APC Railbuilders (Archer Western Contractors L.L.C., PCL Civil Constructors Inc., Corman Construction Inc.); Dulles Metrorail Connectors (Skanska USA Civil Southeast/Granite Construction Co., G.A. & F.C. Wagman Inc./Thumbull Corp., Facchina Construction Co. Inc.); and Silver Live Constructors (Fluor Enterprises Inc./Tutor Perini Corp./Stacy and Witbeck Inc.).

The teams were selected following a request for qualifications. The additional procurement process steps will include submission of a technical plan and pricing. MWAA expects to award the contract in May 2013.

The contract's cost will be $1.4 billion to $1.6 billion. Completion of Phase 2 construction is slated for mid-2018.
