Today, the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) will begin testing trains, signals and communications equipment along the southern section of the A-train corridor in Texas.
Herzog Transit Services, DCTA's operator, will run trains on newly completed tracks between Carrollton and Lewisville Lake. Testing will be conducted during the day; as part of the testing, trains will sound their horns near all grade crossings, DCTA officials said in a prepared statement.
DCTA plans to begin testing additional areas north of Lewisville Lake in a few weeks.
"Seeing the A-train running up and down the rail corridor shows that we are close to opening our service to the public," said Tom LeBeau, vice president of DCTA's rail development.
