The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) opened the A-train, its 21-mile commuter-rail system, a year ago this week.

Since opening, the A-train has transported 386,230 riders, DCTA officials said in a prepared statement.

On June 16, DCTA marked another milestone with the integration of some of its new Stadler GTW 2/6 articulated rail vehicles.

DCTA acquired 11 of the diesel-electric Stadler vehicles, which were designed to offer level boarding and incorporate enhanced passenger information systems and video surveillance. The interior has room for wheelchairs, strollers and bicycles. There are 104 seats and standing room for 96 people in every vehicle. The agency plans to integrate additional vehicles into service over the next few months with a full transition by September.
