The Regional Transportation District of Denver (RTD) tapped David Genova to serve as interim general manager, following Phillip Washington's previously announced plans to leave his post as general manager.Washington will leave his post April 15 to become chief executive officer of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Genova has served as RTD's assistant general manager of safety, security and facilities since 1994. He has worked at RTD for more than 21 years, including 10 years as a senior manager of public safety. "Our focus is on maintaining the continuity, stability and health of RTD, as we continue to complete four new rail lines and the US-36 bus rapid transit in 2016," said RTD Chairman Charles Sisk. "[Genova] will provide us with that leadership, as well as the ongoing management of our base business operations."Genova currently serves on various national transportation boards, including the Federal Transit Administration's Transit Rail Advisory Committee on Safety, the American Public Transportation Association's Rail Safety Committee, and the Transportation Research Board's Transit Safety and Security Committee.Genova will be eligible for consideration as a permanent general manager as the RTD search committee continues to vet potential candidates, agency officials said in a statement.
