On Oct. 31, Regional Transportation District of Denver (RTD) officials plan to mark the “latest milestone” in the FasTracks expansion program with the opening of the new Auraria West Station, RTD officials said in a prepared statement.

The new station, to be located across from the former station, will accommodate four-car trains and additional light-rail traffic coming into Denver Union Station, they said. The expanded line, which will connect with Golden, Colo., and downtown Denver, is part of the long-term FasTracks program that is paving the way for the planned opening of the West Rail Line in spring 2013.

The FasTracks program calls for building 122 miles of commuter- and light-rail lines, and redeveloping Denver Union Station.
