Denver transit agency preps Nine Mile Station for R Line rail route

The Regional Transportation District of Denver (RTD) on Friday will begin tie-in work at the Nine Mile Station, which will connect the new R Line to the existing light-rail system.

Crews will integrate the overhead contact system with RTD's current system. They'll complete the work Oct. 25.

The work ultimately will mean that the Nine Mile Station, near Interstate-225 and Parker Road in Aurora, Colo., will no longer be an end-of-line station for the agency's light-rail system, RTD officials said in a news release.

When the R line opens in late 2016, Peoria Station will be the final terminus on the north end, while the H Line will end at Florida Station.
