Department of Homeland Security recognizes Rail Runner's security programs

New Mexico’s Rail Runner Express has received the 2010 "Mass Transit System of Distinction Award" from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for implementing "a strong security program," Rail Runner officials said in a prepared statement.
The transit system received the award after scoring high marks on a baseline assessment conducted in 2010 by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
TSA representatives were scheduled to present the award to transit system officials on Feb. 17 in Albuquerque.
