Detroit's M-1 Rail unveils QLINE station designs, begins testing streetcars

M-1 Rail late last week unveiled the design for 20 stations along Detroit's 3.3-mile planned QLINE streetcar route.
The glass and concrete stations will feature free Wi-Fi connection, heating, security cameras, emergency phones and next vehicle alert screens.
Rosetti, a Detroit-based architecture firm, developed the concept and design for the QLINE stops.
The stations will recognize corporate and philanthropic partners whose support served as the foundation for the "landmark public-private partnership" behind QLINE, M-1 Rail officials said in a press release.
The stations will recognize each sponsor with an individual custom tile, along with a plaque commemorating contributions to the project. Sponsorships required a $3 million pledge.
Meanwhile, M-1 Rail yesterday began its streetcar vehicle testing along Woodward Avenue. The test was part of a series the agency performing on the route.
In August, M-1 Rail started testing track using a motorized inspection car known as a "speeder."
