The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA), in partnership with metropolitan planning organizations in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, is soliciting project proposals in the Miami area for Federal Transit Administration Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) and New Freedom program funds for fiscal years 2010 and 2011, as well as carryover funds from 2007.

The amounts for the FY2010 funds include $3.6 million for JARC projects and $2 million for New Freedom projects, SFRTA officials said in a prepared statement. FY2011 funds include $3.6 million for JARC projects and $2 million for New Freedom projects; FY2007 carryover funds include $167,758 for JARC projects and $84,700 for New Freedom projects.

Funds may be used to cover up to 80 percent of capital project costs and not more than 50 percent of project costs for operating assistance. The application deadline is Sept. 9.
