Federal funding feather in NJ Transit's cap
advertisement
New Jersey Transit Corp. Nov. 2 got a financial vote of confidence from U.S. Department of Transportation when it entered into a Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA) for the transit agency to construct the second segment of its Hudson-Bergen Light Rail System.
An FFGA is a federal commitment to support a transit project over the course of several fiscal years, contingent on fund availability. This FFGA provides a maximum of New Start funds up to $500 million.
The 6.1-mile second segment, Hudson-Bergen Waterfront Light Rail Transit System, would run north from Hoboken Terminal to the Tonelle Avenue park-and-ride lot in North Bergen and south from 34th Street to 22nd Street in Bayonne.
When fully complete, the Hudson-Bergen line would measure 20.1 miles and have 30 stations.
