On Friday, the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA) appointed John Fenton chief executive officer of Metrolink, effective April 16. He will replace interim CEO Eric Haley, who assumed the post after former CEO David Solow stepped down in December to become advisor-interagency initiatives for the Los Angeles commuter-rail agency.

Fenton is an operating partner of investment bank CIH Capital Partners. He previously was president and CEO of OmniTRAX Inc., general manager and vice president of CN, and vice president of the Kansas City Southern and Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railways.

“With a unique combination of experience operating rail services and serving at the highest level of executive management, Fenton is well prepared to ensure passenger safety and service in our complex railroad operating environment,” said SCRRA Chairman Keith Millhouse in a prepared statement.
