The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority announced last week that the 9.1-mile segment of the Foothill Gold Line light-rail project in California is nearly two-thirds complete.

The line, which will stop at four new stations between Glendora and Pomona in Southern California, has been under construction since mid-2020 and is on schedule to be completed in early 2025, construction authority officials said in a project update.

When completed, the segment will be turned over to Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) for training and pre-revenue service. L.A. Metro also will determine when passenger service begins, construction authority officials said.

Kiewit-Parsons Joint Venture is the design-build contractor on the project. Crews anticipate completing nearly all major construction activities this year, while testing will begin by year's end.

L.A. Metro and the construction authority filed a joint application in December 2022 for a full funding grant request to build another Gold Line segment from Pomona to Montclair. They expect to hear from the California State Transportation Agency on the application later this month, construction authority officials said.
