Full Amtrak California Zephyr service between the San Francisco Bay area and Chicago will resume this week, effective with the departure of an eastbound train from Emeryville, Calif., on Thursday, and westbound train from Chicago on Friday, Amtrak officials said in a prepared statement.

The railroad has provided limited service between Emeryville and Denver since Sept. 3, but no service has been available between Fort Morgan, Colo., and Burlington, Iowa, since Aug. 26 due to flooding.

Also effective with the departures, Amtrak service will be restored to a station in Omaha, Neb. BNSF Railway Co. has completed track repairs following massive flooding and infrastructure damage that led to a detour route bypassing Omaha since June 1, Amtrak said.
