GO Transit hikes fares
advertisement
On March 14, GO Transit implemented a 25-cent base fare increase to help cover the cost of service improvements and expansion.
Ten-ride tickets went up by $2.50 and monthly passes, by $10. The additional revenue will enable GO Transit to add train and bus service, maintain facilities and equipment, and improve communications and service reliability, the agency said.
Improvements coming in the next two years include: a third track on the Lakeshore West line; additional service on the Milton Line; more 12-car trains on the Lakeshore lines; system-wide installation of LCD display signs on all rail lines to provide corridor-specific service status information to riders; and improvements to customer communication tools.
