GO Transit opens new parking structure
advertisement
On Friday, Ontario officials marked the opening of a new, 1,000-space parking structure at the Oakville Station, which serves about 5,000 GO Transit riders daily.
The parking expansion's $41 million cost (in Canadian dollars) was funded by the Canadian and Ontario governments and the GO Transit Improvement Program.
The new, six-story-structure has a covered ground-level drop off and pick-up zone that is linked to the train platforms.
"Adding more parking spaces is one of the best ways to encourage local commuters to take GO Transit," said Kevin Flynn, member of Provincial Parliament for Oakville, in a prepared statement.
