GO Transit recognized for near-collision reporting program
advertisement
GO Transit recently won an Award for Excellence from the Ontario committee of National Transportation Week for its safety program targeting people who deliberately disobey crossing signals and signs.
GO Transit’s near-collision reporting program is the agency’s latest safety initiative, enabling train and trackwork crews to record information about pedestrians and drivers who ignore railway crossings. The information enables GO Transit enforcement personnel and railway police to issue trespassing charges or send near-collision notices to the vehicle’s registered owner, detailing the violation and rail-safety information.
During National Transportation Week, representatives from Canadian transit associations recognize industry professionals for their contributions toward safe, efficient and reliable transportation.
