GO Transit to run all-day train service on Stouffville Line

GO Transit later this month will begin providing all-day train service on the Stouffville Line, Ontario government officials announced last week.

Starting June 26, trains will run every hour in both directions during weekday midday and evening periods between Unionville GO Station and Toronto's Union Station.

A new morning and late evening weekday trip will be added along the same segment, while two trips will be extended from Unionville Station to the Lincolnville Station, Ontario Ministry of Transportation officials said in a press release.

In total, there will be 17 new train trips each weekday, bringing the number of weekly train trips from 85 to 170 along the Stouffville corridor.

Expanding service along the line will support the GO Regional Express Rail (RER) program, which calls for electrifying core segments of the GO rail network by 2024 or 2025.
