German, Swiss railways order vehicles from Bombardier consortiums

Railways in Germany and Switzerland recently placed vehicle orders worth $197.7 million with consortiums featuring Bombardier Transportation.
Germany’s Deutsche Bahn recently awarded a $163.3 million contract for the production and delivery of 40 four-car electric multiple units (EMUs) to a consortium comprising Bombardier and Siemens Transportation Systems Inc.; Bombardier’s contract share is $97.6 million. The EMUs are scheduled to be delivered between April and November 2003.
Meanwhile, Swiss Federal Railways awarded a $127.7 million contract for the delivery of 10 seven-car electric high-speed trains with tilting technology to a consortium featuring Bombardier and Alstom Transport; Bombardier’s contract share is $100.1 million. The vehicles are slated for delivery in 2004.
