Great North Eastern Railway inks deal with Bombardier

English rolling-stock leasing company HSBC Rail Sept. 28 awarded Bombardier Transportation a $90.5 million contract to refurbish 302 passenger coaches for use by train operator Great North Eastern Railway (GNER).



Employees at Bombardier’s Wakefield, England, facility will be responsible for refurbishing the Mark IV coaches. Work will include repairing corrosion, repainting vehicles, and completely refitting the interiors.



Deliveries are slated to take place between 2002 and 2005.
