At Tuesday’s board meeting, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Joe Calabrese identified four federal funding earmarks the agency has prioritized for 2011 appropriations.
The priorities are: $5 million for the proposed rehabilitation of the Mayfield Road Station in Cleveland; $4.5 million for the construction of a new Red Line station on Brookpark Road; $1.5 million to prepare the final design of a proposed 0.5-mile extension of the Blue Line in Shaker Heights; and $500,000 million for the final design of the Clifton Blvd. Transit Enhancement Project in Lakewood and Cleveland.
In addition, board members re-elected George Dixon III to serve as transit board president and Cleveland Heights Mayor Edward Kelley to serve as vice president for one-year terms. Dixon is the longest-serving transit board president in Ohio history, according to GCRTA.
