HART to seek public opinion on Honolulu light-rail station design
The Honolulu Authority for Rail Transit (HART) will host a meeting tomorrow to solicit public input on design features under consideration for three of its 21 planned rail stations.
Officials will present information for proposed stations at Pearl Harbor Naval Base, Lagoon Drive and Middle Street, according to a HART newsletter.
The agency is overseeing construction a 20-mile elevated light-rail project. The first 10 miles of the route, from Kapolei to Aloha Stadium, are under construction now.
Also, agency officials announced the number of people employed by the project has grown to more than 900 since construction resumed in September. The number of jobs is expected to increase even more as work on the 21 stations and several park-and-ride facilities progress, they said.
Project construction was suspended last year while HART completed archaeological surveys of the rail alignment as part of a Hawaii Supreme Court ruling.
