Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) has halted indefinitely its study of potential light-rail service in Virginia Beach, Va., according to a Virginian-Pilot news story posted on HRT’s website.
HRT shelved the study of preliminary cost and ridership estimates after Federal Transit Administration (FTA) officials raised questions about phasing in extensions and the models used to estimate ridership, the paper reported.
HRT President and Chief Executive Officer Philip Shucet informed City Manager Jim Spore in a letter sent on Monday that the study would be halted for at least a year to provide the agency time to address the FTA's concerns, according to the newspaper article.
