The House Appropriations Committee recently allocated fiscal year 2004 funding for two Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) projects.
The committee earmarked $85 million to help fund the Cermak (Douglas) Blue Line reconstruction and $45 million toward the Brown Line expansion.
The Blue Line project has been under construction since summer 2001.CTA currently is completing Brown Line design and engineering, and is in the final stages of securing a full funding grant agreement. The authority expects to begin Brown Line construction later this year.
The proposed funding now goes to the full House for consideration.
