Houston board swears in new appointee

Just as its legal battle to begin construction on MetroRail light-rail system was settled with a groundbreaking March 13, Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris Co., Texas, (Metro) board took time out to swear in a new member, David Medina, who’s associate general counsel, litigation at Cooper Industries Inc., and a former district court judge.

"We welcome Judge Medina to this diverse and dedicated board," said Chairman Robert Miller in a prepared statement. "This is a very promising day to be sworn in at Metro, because it’s the day we break ground on the MetroRail project. We have a lot of work to do in the coming years, and we’ll need his help."

Medina, a Harris County appointee, replaces J. Kent Adams, who resigned in February to accept an appointment as Harris County justice of the peace.
