The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO) reported ridership increased 5.2 percent to 6.4 million in January compared with the same month a year ago, marking the sixth consecutive month of ridership growth.
Ridership on METRORail climbed to 902,025 during the month compared with 766,051 in January 2011.
METRO attributes the continued ridership growth to the region’s improving economy, and improvements in the agency’s service and efficiency, said METRO President and Chief Executive Officer George Greanias in a prepared statement.
