Illinois dedicates half a billion for Chicago transit projects

advertisement

Chicago is set to receive $495.9 million for mass transit projects under a $3 billion, statewide capital program approved by the Illinois General Assembly and signed by Gov. Pat Quinn this week. The program will be financed with bonds to be retired by state revenues.

The dedicated funding will enable the Chicago Transit Authority to advance several projects, such as replacing track on the Red Line, rehabilitating stations, and upgrading Brown and Red line substations.
