International consortium lands study contract for Singapore's Eastern Region Line
advertisement
Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) Nov. 28 awarded a $1.25 million contract to an international consortium comprising Kansas City, Mo.-based Binnie Black & Veatch Pte. Ltd., Singapore-based URS Consulting Pte. Ltd., and San Francisco-based Booz Allen & Hamilton to undertake the feasibility and preliminary engineering study for the region’s proposed Eastern Region Line.
LTA’s Rail Transit System Master Plan identified the line as one that would complement the East West Line and serve Singapore’s eastern region by maximizing accessibility for intra- and inter-town transportation in areas currently served only by the public bus network, and providing rail access to eastern residential areas.
The consortium has begun working on the study, which is scheduled to be complete by third-quarter 2002.
