advertisement
Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyesi (the Greater City Municipality of Istanbul) recently awarded an ALSTOM-led consortium a $35 million electromechnical contract for the Sishane metro extension.
The Sishane extension would add one mile of underground double track and one station. ALSTOM would design, supply and install all electromechnical works, including ALSTOM’s complete signaling system with automatic train control and automatic train supervision, marketed under the name URBALIS™.
Construction is slated to begin this month; service, by January 2003.
A second Sishane extension phase, which would include three more stations, two miles of double track and the Golden Horn crossing, currently is being tendered under a separate international tender.
