Chick Hearn, born Francis Dayle Hearn, was the voice of the Los Angeles Lakers for more than four decades, having broadcast 3,338 consecutive games until his death Aug. 2. And he won’t be forgotten by passengers on Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Blue Line.

On Sept. 26, MTA board members instructed staff members to immediately designate the Blue Line’s Pico station, which provides easy access to the Staples Center, as the "Chick Hearn" station.
