L.A. MTA offers hourly car access

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority passengers now have the flexibility to run errands during a work day by using Flexcar on-demand hourly car service.

Honda Civic hybrids will be available at Gateway Transit Center (near Union Station), Long Beach Bike Station (near the Transit Mall Metro Blue Line station) and several Metro Gold Line stations.

Passengers pay a one-time $25 membership fee, which covers gasoline, insurance, cleaning, maintenance and parking. Members then can rent cars for $10 per hour, or set up a monthly plan based on individual need.

Reservations can be made any time using a SmartCard and personal PIN code. Trip data is sent wirelessly to Flexcar, which will send the member a monthly bill.
